Faerch Achieves Independent Recyclability Certification for MAPET II Trays, Paving the Way for a Full Circularity in Packaging
23-04-2025
Faerch is proud to announce that its innovative MAPET II trays have been awarded an independent recyclability certificate by the renowned German Institute Cyclos-HTP. The rigorous evaluation process has concluded that Faerch’s MAPET II trays are 98%–99% recyclable.
This significant achievement underscores the company’s commitment to circularity and positions MAPET II trays as a leading solution in sustainable food packaging. It also confirms that MAPET II supports high-quality recycling and circularity goals. In addition, the certificate plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, which supports our customers' sustainability efforts and enhances MAPET II as the material of choice.
MAPET II Trays: The Sustainable Choice for Fresh Meat Packaging
MAPET II trays are designed for protein-rich foods, particularly fresh meat, packaged in a modified atmosphere. Made from up to 100% post-consumer recycled PET, these mono-material trays minimise environmental impact and can be fully recycled into new food packaging of the same high quality, contributing to a fully circular system and reducing the need for virgin materials.
Unlike conventional packaging solutions, MAPET II trays use a food-grade adhesive applied around the rim to create an airtight, leak-proof seal. This innovation enhances the trays’ superior barrier properties, ensuring product integrity even in the presence of contaminated sealing edges. Furthermore, MAPET II trays comply with the strictest regulatory standards and are approved for direct contact with food at temperatures up to 40°C, providing flexibility for various storage and transportation needs.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Faerch continues to push the boundaries of sustainable innovation, leading the transition of critical packaging into a circular economy. With the official recyclability certification of MAPET II trays, the company is demonstrating that sustainable solutions can also meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and performance.
